All true, no disagreements there. Don't forget to point out that they still finished 5th in the SEC West, and that's in a really good 8-4 year. They're going to have to wait on a swoon by LSU/Arky/Bama/Auburn in order to ever sniff the SEC Title game.
Yeah, and three years ago Miss State was a laughingstock and non-contender. Mullen has just been there two seasons now, its a lil early to count out Miss State. You mention Ark. Why? That only proves my point. Look where they were 4 years ago and now. Bama has not always been elite lately and will have down years, as will LSU. Hell LSU was TERRIBLE for years, what makes you so sure they wont be back down soon? South Carolina won the SEC East this year. That alone proves my point. And if you can win your division in the SEC, you can compete for a national title.


Our fanbase is small, but raucous. There may only be a few of us there, but you know we're there. I'd wager that you've never been to a game Miami's played in in-person, so you wouldn't know that--when on the other hand, I have been, and I've seen it.

I'd be somewhat willing to wager that Mullen wouldn't mind recruiting down in S. Florida with the brand recognition of a Miami instead of fighting in the same geographical area as Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, Bama, and Arkansas--being the small fish in the big pond. Not to mention that Miss St would have to get really **** good in recruiting and player development to ever have a shot to win the SEC West. Even then, it'd take a bunch of luck for them to make it out of the West to the SEC Championship.
Yeah, and have to compete with every major school in the nation to get recruits. Its not like Miami builds a fence around the bottom end of the state to keep everybody out. He is gonna have to fight Bama, LSU, etc... PLUS FSU (better shape than Miami), Florida (better shape than Miami), S. Florida (who just beat Miami), etc....
And that last part is just bull****. South Carolina WON the East this year. Explain that. And the state of Mississippi produces more NFL players per capita than any other state.


I also think it all depends on if he has any aspirations for an NFL job down the road. I have a feeling he'd get a look much quicker if he came to Miami and wins (where he has a legit shot to become a dominant ACC and national program) as opposed to being an also-ran in the SEC West year-in/year-out...which realistically, is as good as it's ever going to get for that program. With the right guy at the helm, Miss St can do what they did this past year, possibly get lucky and win 10 games. With the right guy at the helm, Miami can be a perennial BCS bowl program with 10-12 wins and compete for national titles. Which would you take if you're looking to make your bones to get to the NFL...or hell, even if you're looking to win national titles. If you could make a cogent argument for Miss St being easier to win a national title at than Miami, then I'd bow down and give you props--but the simple fact is that you can't.
You are right, its much easier to win a title in the ACC because they are a lower class football conference right now. Its been almost 10 years since an ACC school competed for a national title, why would it change so fast? Miami has NEVER competed for an ACC title, much less the National Title. and as Ive posted three times now, Mississippi State is on teh upswing, their state produces more NFL talent per capita than even Florida, etc... Its hilarious to assume that a school with a devoted fanbase, great talent pool, a good coach, a good conference, and great facilities cant compete for a title. Oregon was an also-ran a few years ago; I guess they can never be title contenders.

Jesus, you are the biggest girl on this forum. You cant handle someone putting it out there that RIGHT NOW, Miss. State might be as good if not in better shape than Miami. its not about the SEC, its about MISS. STATE and MIAMI.

News flash--Miss. State won more ballgames than Miami this year, sells out its stadium EVERY home game Miss. State is currently ranked higher than Miami on Rivals rankings, and they are in the most prestigious conference in the nation.
Everbody knows the advantages of coaching at Miami, great local talent and a tradition of greatness. but that tradition is only 30 years old. Its not Notre Dame or USC. Who's to say that Mullen couldnt bring Miss. State to that level? Miss. State has been a sleeping giants for years.

So save your whiney inferiority complex about the SEC for some other poster.
